A LINK BETWEEN CRIME AND IMMIGRATION

IT'S LUDICROUS TO DENY THAT THERE IS A LINK BETWEEN CRIME AND IMMIGRATION

By Leo McKinstry
April 17,2008

A NEW bulletin has just been issued which is worthy of George Orwell’s Ministry of Truth. Apparently there is no link between crime and mass immigration.

According to Peter Fahy, chief constable of Cheshire and one of the co-authors of a report from the Association of Chief Police Officers, the idea of a migrant crime wave is nothing more than “a myth” invented by a sinister media to create “resentment and misunderstanding”.

This rose-tinted view holds that most newcomers are professionals with qualifications who come here to boost our economy.

Only a politically correct ideologue determined to brainwash the public could come out with drivel like this. Whereas the rank and file and some very senior coppers make it plain in the report that immigration has put huge pressures on policing, Peter Fahy’s imput is truly Orwellian in its denial of reality, trying to tell people not to believe what they can see with their own eyes.

Any viewer of the BBC’s Crimewatch and any reader of a local newspaper will be only too aware of the grim weekly catalogue of murders, rapes, shootings, thefts and stabbings perpetrated by thugs from immigrant communities.

As one member of the public put it yesterday in response to the ACPO study: “In my area the number of immigrants has rocketed since Labour came to power and the number of muggings and street crimes have significantly increased. The streets were once very peaceful but in the last 10 years we have had four murders, two committed by Afghans and two by Eastern European gangs.”

This is the experience of so many British people today who have seen their once well-ordered civilisation crack under the brutal pressure of mass migration. It is an insult to our intelligence to suggest otherwise.

Yet that is the game Labour ministers have been playing for far too long, with their endless injunctions that we should all “celebrate” the joys of multicultural diversity and applaud the benefits of immigration even while we have to watch the collapse of our once great nation.

Labour’s central aim is to mislead the public about what is really happening in our country. It is all too reminiscent of something from the former Soviet Union, where hard-pressed citizens were urged by the politburo to rejoice in bogus figures on national prosperity while all around was abject poverty.

Like the cheerleaders of Russian communism some of our police chiefs now seem to regard their primary duty as the promotion of Labour’s destructive ideology on immigration.

But just as no Russian could believe the politburo’s statistics so we should be sceptical of any denials about the link between migration and crime. After all, the Home Office has admitted that it does not “have a clue” about the true level of immigration so how can we trust any official figures? This is a Government that told us only 13,000 migrants would come from Eastern Europe once the EU was expanded in 2004 yet more than one million are estimated to have arrived here.

The main body of the ACPO report underlines everything we have seen in recent decades, as immigration has transformed Britain.

Fifty years ago our society was renowned for its good order, reflected in our low crime rate and the unarmed nature of our police. But today we have become one of the most violent places in the Western world. Gun crime, gang feuds, drug abuse, people trafficking, Muslim terrorism and financial fraud are all features of our slide towards anarchy. It is ludicrous to pretend that this has nothing to do with immigration.

Only last week it was revealed that one in five murders in this country last year was committed by foreigners. In London, where mass immigration has been at its most rampant, almost a third of all killings in 2006/7 were
perpetrated by criminals from overseas.

One of the more gruesome cases was the murder committed by Robert Malasi, a teenage Angolan asylum-seeker who, with three Nigerian accomplices, burst into a christening party in Peckham, shot dead Zainab Kalokoh, robbed the other guests and then fled.

There is a wealth of other evidence. Almost 10,000 inmates, around an eighth of the jail population, are foreigners. According to the Met Police, half of all organised gangs in London are from ethnic minorities, the most common nationalities being Indian, Pakistani and Jamaican.

And in November 2006 a secret Cabinet paper stated that Eastern Europeans carry out a 10th of all crime in Britain.

Street violence, cash-machine thefts and prostitution were said to be among the favoured practices.

The Government has become so obsessed with the dogma of multiculturalism that it is seeking to maintain a climate of denial. In one part of this curiously contradictory ACPO report, there is a demand that businesses “do a better job of explaining the benefits of migrant workers”.

It is a telling indicator of how deeply politicised our police chiefs have become that they now think they can instruct employers to act as supporters for a New Labour policy.

Fahy is a classic example of the breed. He is head of ACPO’s diversity campaigns and in a typical outburst he urged positive discrimination in police recruitment in favour of black candidates at the exclusion of whites.

This is the sinister world of the police’s top brass. In their craven obeisance to New Labour, some have become keener to uphold dogma than protect the public. And in the process they have lost all grip of our crime-riddled streets.
